Dog Training

Training is the best way to bond and connect with your dog. Positive reinforcement helps grow that bond and establish long lasting behaviors on your dog and you. Your relationship with your dog is the most important and valuable goal, we are here to help you get there, and be able to enjoy your dog while your dog enjoys life!

Dog’s need clear boundaries to feel safe and confident, I will help you to get your dog to where you need them to be, and to get your dog to where they need to be to enjoy your lives together.

Our goal is to teach our dogs to trust us, so they can just be dogs! Animals love having a job to do, to play, and have new experiences, so we love to focus on mental and physical stimulation to have healthy, happy dogs.

Tools that we might use: clicker, long lines, harnesses, collars, squeaky toys, treats, crate. We do not use E-Collars, Prong collars or any form of negative reinforcement.

Our Process

1- Before we begin:

Let’s get to know each other. Schedule a 15 min phone consultation to get to know you and your pup and discuss your training goals.

Let’s meet! Schedule a Meet & Greet Session: 30 min (free). Here we will assess the dog's personality and any existing behavior issues.

Consider the dog's age, energy level, and health status, past experiences and previous training.

Discuss a possible plan and specific things to work on. Choose a package.

2- During training:

Owner must provide a well fitted harness for training.

Define specific, achievable goals for the training sessions.

Break down complex tasks into smaller, manageable steps (depending on your dog and family’s possibilities, needs and time)

Choose a quiet and distraction-free training space (will vary depending on what we are working on each session).

Use positive reinforcement tools like treats, clicker, toys, and praise. We start working on basic cues first (sit, stay, recall, potty training, etc) and then move to intensive training (leash manners, house manners, crate training, socialization, desensitization, changing behaviors, etc).

All tools needed for training will be provided on the first session, so don’t worry about it!

Practice at Home

Practice at home between sessions.

Daily work is key for the process to work. 10 min training sessions a day can make a big difference.

Daily mental and physical stimulation are very important to have a calm and easy to train dog.

We will discuss the work and all information needed will be provided after each session to keep working during the week.

Communication is always open, you can text me, send me videos, pictures, and ask any questions at any point of the training process.

3- After Training

Remember training does not end when the sessions are over. Keep working with your dog, and reinforcing the behaviors you like.

We have follow up sessions to make sure everyone is doing great or to help with any problems.

Sometimes our dogs have bad days, or even bad weeks (mistakes are made while learning!), give them time and stay pawsitive, they will get there!

Communication is still open even when our work together is done! We love to know how you are doing so feel free to send us pictures and updates!
